If you've never done a real easy recovery ride? You need to. I set out today with 20 or more miles in mind with no intent on going hard, and I didn't. Looking at my HR on the Wahoo Element from time to time I never saw above 144 and that was only on a few climbs. Every other peek at rhe HR was 120 or lower, Mission accomplished👍.
Riding around New Braunfels today There were many flags out in honor of Veterans Day and downtown? A mixture of flags and city workers still putting up Christmas decorations. Taking off just after the lunch rush was good as the traffic was ok and at the same time seeing activity as I rode around. The wind direction made for a really nice return but at the sane time it wasn't so strong to make the beginning too strenuous.
Riding easy once in a while is great to keep the legs turning between hard workouts. I look at it as during a hard interval workout you go hard and recover and go hard and recover. A recovery ride is just that. An entire ride to recover between harder rides. One thing I suggest that may be hard for some but makes it enjoyable is to look at your surroundings and enjoy the sights. I rode through Landa Park twice and both times (and every time) I enjoyed the trees, lakes, rivers and people enjoying themselves. It keeps me going slow enough to enjoy going slow and keep it fun. I hope everyone gets to enjoy the scenery from time to time. I know I do.
Be blessed and RIDE ON!
