It's been too long

Back in the saddle again. It's been about 2 weeks, but like they say. "It's like riding a bike"
An early rise to a slow start today. (Just one snooze button hit and taking my time). One thing I did learn, 52 degrees is cooler than I thought. I checked the weather to see the temp and any signs of rain. No rain but 52 degrees were out there waiting for me. I put on my base layer and a jersey and set out. Taking a familiar route that took me to Puppy Playland, I stopped there for a drink then back tracked it to Landa Park only to find the settings up of a 5K race. The Park wasn't crowded yet but the start/finish and other tables were present, loud music and many people meandering around as well as dog walkers and the usual early morning walkers enjoying the park. More on that later.
I left the park and headed to Gruene crossing the Faust St Bridge and along the bike lane road path all the way. I made one 4 mile loop around Gruene then back along the same route. Opon my return on the bridge I happened upon a family out enjoying the view from the bridge and was pleasantly greeted with two Good Mornings 🌄 😊, one adult and one from a nice little 5yr old. If course I returned both. Crossing the bridge I made my way back to Landa Park in time for the actual of the 5K. I was met with a barrier and a race official stopping cars. It was then I found out it was a 5K named? The Wurst Year Ever 5K. I stopped for a minute or so then seeing the hoards running towards me. I made the decision to turn around (recalculating) and go a different than my projected route. From Walnut I took San Antonio St to the first underpass below I35 then on the bike path on 1044, County Line and made my way to Fischer Park then home. 27.5 miles on all. Once the sun was up I was dressed fine but my arm warmer sleeves would have been a good addition at the start of this ride.
Good ride on a nice day.
Be blessed and RIDE ON!
